Band 7 & Band 8
Classes occur during the school day
All band students who have had at least one full year of experience on their instruments (or equivalent proficiency) are eligible to play in these groups. Musicians also rehearse in sections to accelerate and advance proficiency (see the Program information handouts for more information on woodwind, brass, and percussion sectionals). During the years that they are offered, Concert Band is open to all students; Symphonic Band is a group by audition only. The focus of both groups is to continue musical growth and progress of their current proficiency levels including theory, technique, and aspects of performance. These groups also perform and compete with the Color Guard as the Redwood Marching Band. Yearly curricula is divided into various seasonal emphases, with concert music as the constant ongoing musical focus.
Strong 6th grade musicians who are interested in placing above Beginning Band may also audition for placement into Band 7.
